Auguri

Ho vissuto molti anni in Medio Oriente, ho sempre fatto gli auguri per le nostre feste ai miei amici musulmani che non si sono mai offesi, d’altra parte i miei amici musulmani mi facevano gli auguri per le loro feste, ed io non mi offendevo. Non comprendo perché, per essere politicamente corretti, dovremmo scambiarci solo auguri stagionali (seasonal greetings) che non sono altro se non un ricordo della festa pagana del solstizio che, in base alle stesse considerazioni, dovrebbero essere considerati offensivi non solo per i cristiani ma, a maggior ragione, per i musulmani.

I have been living for many years in Middle East countries, I have always made my best wishes for our Christian  feasts to my Muslim friends who never felt offended by me for this. On the other hand my Muslim friends gave me their wishes for Muslim religious feasts, and I did not feel offended .

I do not understand why, to be politically correct, we should only exchange seasonal greetings, that are nothing but a memory of the pagan festival of the solstice that, should we apply the same considerations, should be considered as offensive not only for Christians but, a fortiori, for Muslims.
