According to Niall Ferguson, the leftist movement of students that gave origin to the 1968 revolutionary issue was not due to desire of communism or social revolution  but only to the desire to share their dormitory with their female counterparty.

It cpuld be true in the case of the United States, un Europe however the movement had since the beginning a definite political aspect, whose extreme consequence has been  terrorism in the following years.
