The cost of energy: a historical approach

It is common opinion that the cost of energy keeps going up, in reality this is not true.

Of course, if you limit your analysis to monetary cost, it makes sense to speak about a perennial  cost rise, however bot this is a partial view of the problem.

To understand the real cost of energy you must also take into consideration:

  • the different purchase power in different times as well as
  • the change in the energy services that are being utilized and
  • the increase in efficiency in energy utilization.

The graph below is from an article I have presented at the ICEC World Congress 2016 in Rio de Janeiro as well as to the NETLIPSE Meeting in London on 18 & 19 of April 2016.
