I have personally met Bruce Watson for the first time by middle of the Nineties, I do not recall exactly the year, at the wedding of the son of Gilles Caupin, in France and from that time a friendly relationship started among him and myself as well as from my wife, Francesca and his wife, Julie. After that, we have met several times at various ICEC events, congresses, conferences.
Albeit we were not meeting frequently, I considered him as a personal friend, as I think he was considering me. We met for the last time when he received the Life Time Achievement Award in London, in November, 2017.
He gave an important contribution to our profession, of which he could be considered one of the founding persons, as well as to the British Association of Cost Engineers and to the ICEC as a whole. Never to be forgotten that he was a Briton from Scotland, never to be confused with an English man.
We will miss him, albeit we hope to meet him again. Ciao, Bruce.
